‘Walk’ in prayer with Fr. Steven Voss as he journeys to Sacred Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes for healing

Fr. Steven Voss

Dear Friends,

Each of us is blessed by the great mercy and love that God pours out throughout our lives. I can attest to this in my own life. Thanks to the generosity of the Order of Malta I have been given an extraordinary opportunity to participate in their pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in France, April 28 through May 6.

As you know, I have been battling cancer for approximately one year. Although treatment has posed some expected issues for me, thanks to your prayers I have been able to attend to my duties as Pastor with only a slight reduction in my schedule. In general, I continue to feel well and I recognize this as a true grace and blessing. I have a very capable team of doctors caring for me with the hope that a newly started drug regimen will reduce the tumor so that it can be successfully removed. Modern medicine works wonders; however, the healing power of God is at the heart of all cures.

I invite you to “walk” with me to Lourdes in prayer:

  • The Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma Michigan (http://www.rsmofalma.org/) have invited you to join them in prayer for my complete healing through the intercession of Venerable Catherine McAuley, their founder. I became good friends with the Sisters of Mercy through the Seminary. Prayer cards are available at the Altar of Mary and the entrances of church.  Through your prayers you can help me heal, and at the same time participate in the beatification process of Venerable Catherine McAuley.
  • Members of the parish will begin a Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes for healing on April 23, nine days before my visit to the Sacred Grotto. If you would like to pray the Novena, you can find it at https://www.ewtn.com/Devotionals/novena/lourdes.htm. We also have copies of the novena at the west entrance to church for those who do not have access to the internet. The ending novena prayer along with a rosary will be said after the 12:10pm Mass on Friday, May 1, 2015.

I invite you to walk with me in prayer for your own intentions for your loved ones who are ill.

  • We have provided petitions to Our Lady of Lourdes at the Altar of Mary. Please fill out a petition and place it in the basket at the altar of Mary. I will present them to Our Lady of Lourdes in the Sacred Grotto.

My health, like everything in our lives, is in the hands of the merciful Lord. His will be done!

In Christ,

Fr. Steven
