‘This little outpost of faith’ needs kingdom-minded people — Fr. Steven Voss

Fr. Steven Voss

Fr. Steven Voss, our pastor, remembers when as a seminary student, he was asked to pick a favorite image of Jesus Christ. A friend in his seminary class chose The Sacred Heart of Jesus, also a favorite of Fr. Steven’s. When asked why, the friend answered that Jesus is the true king and will never be toppled. Fr. Steven never forgot that faith-filled answer.

Enough faith to be ‘a kingdom-minded people’

It occurred to Fr. Steven on the Feast of Christ the King 2015 that we are all “envoys of the Kingdom of Heaven in a foreign land”, the everyday world. We need to ask ourselves whether we have become a kingdom-minded people. How is this a reality for us? Fr. Steven has realized that in order to build the kingdom, we need to be part of securing its foundation. Fr. Steven’s vision for the parish, “this little outpost of faith”, includes building that strong foundation. Find out how you can be part of the plan. Listen to Fr. Steven’s full homily. Jesus Christ is the faithful witness,

the firstborn of the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth.
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,
who has made us into a kingdom, priests for his God and Father,
to him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen.
Behold, he is coming amid the clouds,
and every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him.
All the peoples of the earth will lament him.
Yes. Amen.
