As you may have heard, Archbishop Aquila is restoring the sacraments of initiation to their original order in the Archdiocese of Denver. In the coming years, the sacrament of Confirmation will ordinarily be received in third grade during the same liturgy as First Holy Communion. While we know, indeed, we hope, that these changes will raise questions for many, we have great confidence that the answers to those questions will help to deepen and enrich your own experience of the sacraments.
The archbishop wants every Catholic in the archdiocese to understand the pastoral reasons for this decision. Please visit the Archdiocese of Denver’s Saints Among Us web page for details on Archbishop Aquila’s plan for The Restored Order of the Sacraments of Initiation. There you will find:
- the archbishop’s pastoral letter, “Saints Among Us,” in Spanish and English,
- answers to frequently asked questions regarding the upcoming changes,
- an invitation to participate in a live Q&A phone call with Archbishop Aquila,
- and a video explaining the letter.
Sign up for the archbishop’s live teleforum on Thursday, May 28 at 7 p.m. Please join the archbishop in praying for a greater outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit across our archdiocese and beyond.
