ash wednesday 2018 - valentines day - st joseph catholic church - ash wednesday graphic - lpiAsh Wednesday this year falls on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. Since it is a day of fasting and abstinence, be sure to celebrate with your loved ones earlier.

Our Ash Wednesday Masses:

6:30am, 9:30am (school Mass), 12:10pm, 5:15pm and 7:00pm. Incense will be used at all Masses.

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence from meat. The norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding from age 14 onwards. In preparation for Palm Sunday, last year’s palms will be collected starting January 27th. Thank you.

Acclaimed Catholic musician, songwriter and speaker Chris Muglia visits St. Joseph Catholic Church, 6:30 p.m., Sunday, March 26 and Monday, March 27 for a two-part, mini-Lenten Mission. Chris combines moving music with a powerful speaking message to draw us deeper to Christ. Admission free, but donations accepted. Receptions to follow both evenings. All are welcome to attend one or both evenings.

  • Small Group Bible Studies. Weekly studies aimed at spending six weeks studying some aspect of scripture. There are 13 options to choose from, many targeting specific groups of people; seniors/retirees, empty-nesters, newly married, young families, men’s and women’s groups, and general studies open to all.
