Sacramental Preparation
Archbishop Aquila’s pastoral letter “Saints Among Us” introduces the restored order of the Sacraments of Christian Initiation to the Archdiocese of Denver. Accordingly, St. Joseph Parish is stepping down the age of Confirmation to 3rd grade by 2020. During the 2017-18 school year, students in 3rd-6th grades will prepare for and receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Students in 2nd grade will prepare for Reconciliation during the fall semester and receive it in January 2018. They will prepare for First Holy Communion in the spring of 2018 and receive it, along with Confirmation, when they are in 3rd grade. Our Confirmation Step Down document describes how we will complete the transition.

How Can I Help?
We are in need of substitute catechists and aides to support this important ministry! Prior teaching experience is not necessary, just a desire to help our parish children learn about and grow in their faith. As required by the Archdiocese of Denver, all volunteers who work with children must agree to a background check and complete Called to Protect Safe Environment Training. Middle school and high school students are welcome to volunteer as classroom aides.
