Fr. Joe Hartmann, Parochial Vicar

Rev. Joseph Hartmann

Fr. Joe came to us in June 2016 from Our Lady of the Mountains in Estes Park, where he served as pastor for seven years.

He was born in 1948 in Milwaukee, WI and is the youngest of his three older siblings.  His family moved from Wisconsin to Colorado Springs in 1955. There he attended a Catholic grade school and then public high school. He participated in football, baseball and ice-hockey, and graduated in 1967. Fr. Joe completed one year of college before entering St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary, Denver, in 1968. He was ordained December 14, 1978 (the day our very own Fr. Steven Voss was born!)

Fr. Joe’s Archdiocesan assignments have included Blessed Sacrament, St. John the Evangelist, Nativity of Our Lord, Spirit of Christ, St. Anthony’s and St. Peter’s, Immaculate Conception, St. John the Evangelist (2nd time), and Our Lady of the Mountains in Estes Park.

Some of the hobbies Fr. Joe enjoys include acoustic guitar, scuba diving, motorcycling, science-fiction and drama movies, the symphony and theater as well as health and fitness. He has a great love for Holy Mass, Exposition and Adoration, and Marian devotions.

Fr. Joe hopes for his time with us to include a bit of teaching, masses with teens and children, improvement in Spanish, spiritual reading, praying better, and always learning to be a better servant of the Lord and His Church.
