Fr. Steven announces Mass schedule changes

January 5, 2013
Dear Friends:

It is with a mixture of sorrow and gladness that I announce that Father Dave has accepted a position as Interim Chaplain at the Abbey of Saint Walburga. It is with sorrow as we bid farewell to Father Dave after such a short amount of time with us. And with gladness for him that he has found an assignment that is so compatible with his spirituality. Please join me in thanking him for his many contributions to our parish and assuring him of our prayers and support at this time.

Although Father Dave is away at a conference this weekend, he will return to address us the weekend of January 12-13. We will have the opportunity to greet him in Meredith Hall following all Masses. Please be sure to read his letter (in a preceding post on our web site).

As you can imagine, this presents some changes in our parish life. While we hope and pray that Archbishop Aquila will assign another Parochial Vicar to Saint Joseph Parish in June, I will be the only priest in residence until that time. In light of this and with Archbishop Aquila’s guidance, I have deemed it best to change the Mass schedule. During this time, we hope to welcome visiting priests to assist at weekend Masses.

The new Mass schedule is as follows –
Beginning immediately:
Monday through Friday – 6:30 a.m. followed by confessions remains unchanged.
There will be no 11:30 confessions or 12:10 p.m. Mass.
We hope to reinstate this Mass time with the assignment of a ParochialVicar.
Saturday Morning – 8 a.m. followed by confessions remains unchanged.

Beginning January 19:
Saturday Evening – 4 p.m. remains unchanged.
Sunday Morning – 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m.
We will announce which Mass will feature choir and organ music at a later date.
Sunday Evening – 5 p.m. remains unchanged.
As always, times of change present an opportunity for growth. Let us trust in the Holy Spirit’s presence as we continue to embrace this Year of Faith and move forward as theSaint Josephfamily. Let us pray for each other.

In Christ,

Fr. Steven M. Voss
