Corpus Christi procession

You are invited to walk with our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament in our Corpus Christi procession, Sunday, June 2, 2013 (the Feast of Corpus Christi) following the 11:30 a.m. Mass (about 12:30 p.m.).  This is unique this year as normally there is a street festival at Civic Center Park, however this year the city has nothing scheduled.

This is a great opportunity to put your faith into action by walking with Our Lord as a witness to His true presence in the Most Blessed Sacrament.  The feast of the Blessed Sacrament was established in 1246 and was extended to the universal Church by Pope Urban in 1264.  Processions are a customary celebration of this feast with the people following reverently.

The procession will leave the Church on Mountain Avenue and proceed west to Meldrum Street, north on Meldrum Street, east on LaPorte Avenue, south on Howes Street to Mountain Avenue and return to the Church.  We will then have final Benediction in the Church.

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that those who believe in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting.” John 3:14
